One should be conscious about what one consumes, be it food or medicine. One wrong medicine, and you can put your life in danger. One example of such a medicine here could be that of victims of cancer caused by Zantac.

There are many food items as well that can lead to cancer, but in this article, we will not talk about that. Instead, we will talk about how a little change in your diet can prevent you from getting cancer. Let’s look at the food habits you should inculcate in your life to decrease your chance of getting cancer.

Consume Alcohol In Moderation

Alcohol consumption is strongly linked to cancers of the pharynx and larynx, mouth, esophagus, colorectum, liver, and breast (particularly post-menopause). It is believed that every 10 grams of ethanol consumed per day increases the risk of contracting these cancers by 4-25%.

The evidence suggests that all types of alcoholic beverages have a comparable impact on cancer risk. Thus, this recommendation applies to all types of alcoholic beverages, including beer, spirits (liquors), wine, as well as other alcohol sources.

Include Garlic In Your Diet

You must have never even thought about the correlation between the bad breath one has after consuming garlic and cancer. The sulfur compounds responsible for this odor may actually prevent cancer-causing substances from forming in your body. Moreover, it also helps with accelerating DNA repair and killing cancer cells.

To get the most out of the garlic cloves, peel and snip them and set them aside for 15 to 20 minutes prior to actually cooking. This is said to activate enzymes and release the sulfur-containing substances that have the greatest protective effect.

The World Health Organization advises that adults ingest one clove of garlic per day to maintain good health. Garlic seems to be the allium family’s powerhouse, but leeks, onions, scallions, and chives may also protect against stomach cancer.

Include Carrots In Your Diet

Several studies have demonstrated that snacking more carrots is associated with a lower risk of certain cancers. For example, an analysis of five studies confirmed that eating carrots might very well decrease the risk of stomach cancer by close to 26%.

To boost your intake and foreseeably reduce your risk of cancer, consider implementing diets that include carrots. It can be in the form of a healthy snack or perhaps maybe a delicious side meal a few times per week. However, keep in mind that while these studies show a link between carrot intake and cancer, they do not take other factors like smoking and drinking habits into account.

Avoid “Fast” Foods

Fast foods are widely accessible junk foods that are high in energy and are frequently consumed in large quantities. The majority of the research on fast foods comes from studies on fried chicken, burgers, French fries, and high-calorie drinks.

There is no denying the fact that diets high in fatty foods, starchy carbs, or sugar content are causes of overweight, excessive weight gain, and obesity, all of which are risk factors for many cancers. This food can all be put under one umbrella of a “Western-type” diet, characterized by an excessive amount of added meat, sugars, and fat.

Consume Tomatoes

Tomatoes’ red coloring makes a luscious, ripe one difficult to resist. This attractive red color of tomatoes has an added benefit as well. It makes them a prospective element against prostate cancer and several heart diseases.

The red color emanates from lycopene, which is a phytochemical. This works as a powerful antioxidant and is abundant in tomatoes. However, it is not proven yet whether it’s just lycopene or its combination with other lifestyle and dietary factors that play a role in lowering prostate cancer risk.

Limit Your Consumption Of Red & Processed Meats

There has been a link between red meat consumption and the procuring of cancer. Particularly colon cancer, among other types. This is particularly true for processed meats like bacon, ham, and hot dogs. If you must consume these foods, do so in moderation. Your food plate should have fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, along with a small portion of meat.

Conclusion

As new research emerges, it becomes clear that one’s diet can have a significant impact on their risk of cancer. While many foods come with the possibility of reducing cancer cells and preventing their spread and growth, prevailing research is restricted to test-tube, animal, and observational studies. Meanwhile, it’s a solid
