Genuinely, this is something I’ve been thinking about for a while, because I’ve always wondered myself. Have you ever seen references to this? Maybe you’ve heard the name “baking soda”, or some other similar term used to describe the same thing? Well, like many things, it’s actually used to mean something completely different.

There are lots of things in the world that are really toxic, but Borax, the mineral boron, is one of the most toxic things ever made. To a human, Borax is extremely dangerous–if you ingest it, it can cause severe intoxication (cavities, blindness, seizures, etc.). However, Borax is much more toxic to pets and plants than it is to humans, so it is safe for animals to eat. Because Borax is dangerous to humans, we typically don’t ingest it, but if we did we would know to take its symptoms seriously because Borax is incredibly toxic.

I have been using Borax (Na2B2O5) as an ingredient in my homemade laundry detergent for years. It has been a staple in my kitchen for as long as I can remember, and I have never needed to use any other laundry detergent. I read a post on HidrateMe today that compared liquid starch to Borax, and I thought it might be interesting to share my opinion on liquid starch with you.. Read more about is sta-flo safe for slime and let us know what you think.

Non-borax, starch-based recipes are often safer than borax-based recipes. Borax-slime recipes should be avoided by pregnant women.

Is liquid starch hazardous in any other way?

Toothpaste: Many toothpastes include xylitol, a sugar alcohol that may be harmful to dogs. Both of these degrees of toxicity may put your dog’s life in jeopardy. When eaten in a slime combination, most liquid starches include components that would be anticipated to induce GI discomfort at most.

As a result, the issue is whether liquid starch contains borax. Borax is present in liquid starch, while boric acid is present in contact solution.

Is liquid starch okay for slime in this case?

You may gently dip your palm into it as if it were a liquid, but it will feel solid if you crush or punch it. It’s interesting, but it’s not slime. The same components may be found in slime produced using liquid starch. After seeing recipes for so-called “safe slime” made with liquid starch, I assumed this was the solution.

Is Contact Solution a better alternative to Borax?

Borax poisoning may cause hormonal imbalance, as well as harm to the male reproductive system. Instead of borax, how about contact solution? To be honest, there is no such thing as a foolproof slime recipe. However, EWG’s experts are unable to suggest contact solution as a safer slime-making option.
