On the Chex cereal box, the nutritional information says that the cereal is dairy free. But is it?  I’ve heard mixed things. Some say yes, some say no. In fact, even the company itself has changed its stance a few times.

As you may know, Chex cereal is a popular brand that’s been around since the 60’s and is a favorite of kids and adults alike since. It’s been said that Chex is a staple for children because it’s so easy to eat and it’s a fun cereal to eat. But, is Chex cereal dairy free? You’d think so, right? But, it’s not always that simple. Many people have found that Chex cereal is one of the foods that contain the most lactose in the morning, which means it could contain a lot of lactose. It’s hard to believe that Chex cereal used to be one of the most popular breakfast cereals back in the late 70s/early 80s. Then along came the FED UP! people and the rest is history. Today, Chex is a shadow of its former glory, and I can’t help but feel that’s because the original formula was dairy free.
