If you use a dehydrator and don’t rotate trays, you’re probably wasting a lot of time and money. In fact, the USDA recommends that you rotate trays at least every four hours and never leave them on the same level. This is because trays don’t heat evenly, and any part of each tray that’s not in contact with the circulating heat will dry out before the rest.

Dehydrators are devices used to dehydrate food. Dehydrating food is as simple as placing food in a tray and then placing the tray in a dryer. The food must be placed in the dehydrator at the proper temperature (between 105ºF to 140ºF) and the food will be dehydrated. There are different designs of dehydrators. Some use horizontal trays and some use vertical trays. Some have fans and some don’t have fans. Some dehydrators have fans that run the entire time and some have them that turn on and off.
