7 Easy Salads With Orange: Unusual Combinations and Recipes

The sour-sweet taste of orange goes well with vegetables, greens, chicken, shrimp, and fish. It makes salads lighter and juicier. We have prepared a selection of unusual citrus salads.

With Seafood

Slice and fry calamari. Combine with boiled rice, red onion, orange slices, and mayonnaise. If you prepare the salad for a holiday, you can serve it in orange peel cups and sprinkle it with crumbs of roasted peanuts.

With Pine Nuts and Spinach

You will need an avocado, an orange, pine nuts, spinach, and honey. Such a combination of ingredients will make a salad as bright as games on the PlayAmo app. One-half of the citrus is diced, and the juice is squeezed out of the other half. Avocado, red onion, and cheese are cut into thin slices. Next, prepare the sauce: mix olive oil, orange juice, honey, and mustard.

Combine the chopped ingredients with spinach and pine nuts and dress the sauce. If you like aromatic herbs, you can add basil, rosemary, cilantro, or thyme, and if you prepare the salad for a holiday, shrimp would not be out of place. Decorate the salad with thin slices of cheese and wheat croutons.

With Salmon

It’s an unusual combination of redfish and orange. The orange and tomato are cut into large slices, and the salmon is diced. The dressing is made with lemon juice and olive oil. In a salad bowl, put spinach, then tomato and orange, fish and chili peppers. Pour the sauce and mix. Decorate with balsamic vinegar and sesame seeds and make the salad just like in a restaurant.

With Chicken Breast

The chicken is fried with spices. Turmeric and paprika go well with the breast. Mix salad leaves, orange cubes, tomato, cheese, breast, and dress with soy sauce with basil and garlic. You can diversify the recipe by replacing the orange with grapefruit or a juicy peach.

With Rolls and Greens

An unusual dish with a large composition of ingredients. Besides oranges, you need any redfish fillet, nori, bell peppers, rucola, eggs, or pine nuts. For the dressing: vegetable oil, garlic, soy sauce, lemon juice, and honey. Wrap strips of fish fillet in seaweed to make something similar to rolls. Dip into egg, fry until crispy, and cut into pieces. Mix with sliced oranges, peppers, rucola, pine nuts, and spicy sauce.

Pumpkin and Pomegranate

This simple vitamin salad is quick to prepare and energizing for the day. Grated pumpkin is combined with orange, cucumber, and parsley. Grate cheese and sprinkle with pomegranate seeds, sesame seeds, and flax seeds. Dress with olive oil, lemon juice, and honey. Before serving, you can garnish with walnut halves.

Citrus-crab Salad With Garlic

Salad with orange and crab sticks with the addition of garlic turns out juicy and tender. The orange adds sweetness, and the garlic adds spice. The method of preparation is standard: crab sticks, eggs, and oranges are cut into cubes. Then you should add corn, chopped garlic, and dress with mayonnaise. On top, you can sprinkle sesame seeds.

How to Peel an Orange for a Salad

The citrus is peeled off the skin and white pulp, divided into slices, and removed from the inner film. To make the salad juicier, it is desirable to add orange slices whole or cut them into halves. This way, the juice will leak out less. If the recipe calls for small slices, then cut into cubes.

The zest can be used as a flavoring for desserts, baked goods, sauces, and drinks. Dishes won’t only taste better but also healthier since the zest contains vitamin C, essential oils, fiber, potassium, sodium, and other trace elements.
