Is Your Delta-8 Tincture Ineffective? Here Are 3 Possible Reasons

Delta-8-THC is a new craze that is delighting lovers of intoxicating cannabinoids while causing consternation within the medical industry. Like CBD before it, you can find D8 products online, in gas stations, marijuana dispensaries, tobacco shops, and convenience stores in states where it is legal.

However, unlike CBD, delta-8 causes an intoxicating high similar to what one experiences when using delta-9-THC, which is most famously associated with marijuana. If you regularly use weed and purchase a delta-8 tincture, you’ll find that the level of intoxication is less potent than what you’re used to. Indeed, D8’s high is approximately half as strong as what you’ll experience from using D9.

Unfortunately, there are many reports of people buying delta-8 oils only to be highly unimpressed with the results. Rather than immediately assume that the cannabinoid’s effects are overstated, there are several other reasons why your delta-8 tincture didn’t work. This article briefly explores three of them.

1. The Dosage Is Too Low

Let’s begin by highlighting the importance of taking a small amount of a delta-8 tincture when using it for the first time. This advice is especially pertinent if you’re not a regular marijuana user.

Those who feel the effects of D8 say that they enjoy a clear-headed high with feelings of relaxation and comfort flooding their bodies and minds. However, if you overdo it and use it too much, you may get an unpleasant feeling.

In general, the ‘right’ dosage varies according to the user. Factors such as body weight, metabolism, and tolerance play a role. If you weigh 160 pounds, up to 10mg of a delta-8 tincture may be required to feel even mild effects. For an individual weighing 100 pounds, 6mg may be sufficient.

If you use a fairly low amount of delta-8 at first and feel nothing, adjust your dosage the next time you try it. Gradually bump up the amount you use by 2-3mg until you find the ‘sweet spot.’

2. You Have a High THC Tolerance

If you’re an experienced marijuana user trying delta-8, you may already have a high THC tolerance. When you regularly ingest THC, the effects are reduced over time. Consequently, 20mg of the cannabinoid, for example, won’t impact your CB1 receptors the same way as it used to, leading to a reduction in the effects you feel.

If you’re in this zone, it is wise to consider taking a tolerance break (also called a T break). While THC can deplete the CB1 receptors, these receptors can recover over time if you stop using marijuana. It’s entirely up to you to decide how long you want to abstain from THC. According to regular weed users, even a break of two weeks can prove effective.

Once you have gone 14+ days without ingesting THC of any kind, try consuming a delta-8 tincture again. It is likely, albeit not certain, that it will have a more significant effect.

3. The Product is of Poor Quality

In many ways, this is the simplest explanation for why a delta-8 tincture isn’t working for you. The industry has no regulatory oversight, so brands are free to do what they like. They can produce extremely low-grade delta-8 oils, slap a label on them, and start making money.

Several states have already prohibited the sale of delta-8 due to safety concerns. Indeed, staff at prestigious scientific labs suggest that customers are being used as guinea pigs in many cases. The fact is, the Cannabis sativa L. plant doesn’t contain enough D8 for profitable extraction. Therefore, manufacturers create it in a laboratory setting where they convert delta-9 or CBD via a process called isomerization. Unfortunately, the standard of what’s produced varies drastically from one product to the next.

When buying any delta-8 tincture, please ensure it comes with a third-party lab report from a reputable laboratory. This document should outline the D8 content and may also analyze the product for harmful ingredients such as pesticides and heavy metals. If there is no third-party lab report, don’t buy the delta-8 tincture, as there’s no telling what’s in it!

Delta-8 Works When the Product is of Premium Quality

A few brands, like Premium Jane, create delta-8 products that work. Such entities use sophisticated techniques and provide evidence of quality with lab reports. If you use a premium grade delta-8 tincture and it still doesn’t work, it could be that you need to take a T break. Alternatively, you may have begun with a dose too low to have a noticeable effect.
