Is it safe to eat sprouted garbanzo beans? |

We all know that whole foods are important, but it’s great to hear that the body also needs some extra support from the food we don’t eat. And this is exactly what the micro-nutrient of the day, sprouted garbanzo beans, provide. These beans are a relatively new food to the market, but have grown in popularity in recent years.

Garbanzo beans are a popular and nutritious staple in the Mediterranean diet. The legumes are highly nutritious and have been shown to be beneficial for weight loss. (Source: Nutrition and Metabolism, 1999).

Sprouted garbanzo beans (also commonly referred to as chickpeas) are an excellent source of zinc, protein, fiber, folate and iron. And they happen to be pretty tasty too! Yet, many people are unaware of their many health benefits. In this article, I provide an overview of the nutritional value of garbanzo beans and an at-a-glance guide for incorporating them into a healthy diet.

This may be a game-changer for many individuals who have trouble digesting them. Hummus, roasted chickpeas, soups, and stews made with sprouted chickpeas are all excellent. They can make a delicious raw snack if you chew them slowly and thoroughly.
