While Indian food is typically very spicy, I love its pickles. They are a wonderful addition to any Indian meal and they come in many varieties. However, the pickles in question are too salty for my taste and my family isn’t a fan of them either. So I have been trying to figure out how to cut the salt and still enjoy the pickle.

The answer is simple: use a food processor. I would start by pouring the brine into a bowl. Next, add the vinegar, and then I would put the pickles into the food processor and start processing. If you don’t have a food processor, you can use a blender and have a lot of the same results.

A word of caution: there are some recipes that use a process called “pickling” in which the vegetables (often tomatoes) are submerged in a salt solution for an extended period of time. This process creates a brine, which has been shown to have a number of health benefits. However, these pickled vegetables are often found to have higher levels of sodium than we would probably want..
