Does Google Fit track food? In the past, we’ve seen companies like Fitbit and Apple use location data and other metrics to track users’ eating and exercise patterns. Now, Google may be the next company to do it.

For the past 8 years, Google has been tracking my every move (and that of 14 million other users) with its “Fitness” features. The data Google collects about my activity is then used to personalize my Google services. As I got older, Google offers more insights into my exercise habits and health, which are then used to suggest new products and services. The whole process has been very explicit: Google asks for my permission to use my location and contact information to offer me tailored content and services. Google may also use my information to track my activities in order to improve its services and target advertisements.

One of the greatest things about the Internet is that it has introduced us to a whole new world of information. There was no way for a person to find out what kind of food was in a box or package before the Internet.  There are now sites that keep track of what food you eat, where you eat it, how much you eat of it, and even how much exercise you get.  These personalized fitness trackers allow you to keep track of the calories you consume.  Does Google fit track food?
