The Los Angeles Zoo is located in downtown Los Angeles. It’s got the usual animals you see at a zoo: lions, elephants, giraffes, bears, and so on, but there’s also a shop selling beer and wine in the gift shop. That’s right, they sell alcohol at the zoo.

I have been to the LA Zoo a few times, and I have an impression of it. Most of the time it is a place for adults and families with young children, where you could park by the main entrance and feed the birds on the way in. But there is also a part of the zoo with animal education, mostly for kids, and with that I am referring to the animal nursery, where kids can touch and take pictures with the animals. The zoo is a nice place indeed, but I have never seen it as a place where I could buy alcohol.

The Los Angeles Zoo is a fantastic place to visit in the summer, especially if you’re a wine connoisseur (like me). The grounds are open to the public and usually filled with little garden parties, and families and children naturally flock to the animal enclosures to marvel at the various species and have a picnic. The zoo’s collection of exotic animals is unmatched, and the California aquarium is a must-see. And if you did happen to visit the zoo during the winter months, you’d probably notice some of the animals have lost weight this year.

Visitors are not permitted to bring outside alcohol into the Zoo. Beer is available in the Winnick Family Children’s Zoo’s Zoo Grill, La Casita, Mahale Café, South America, and other cart sites around the Zoo.
