Should you care about whether your Starbucks drink has gluten in it? In a nutshell, yes. While Starbucks has yet to officially say whether their syrups contain gluten, the vast majority of syrups used in their products do contain it. This comes as a surprise to some, but to say that it makes no difference is naïve at best. After all, you’re consuming a product that may have traces of gluten in it, and the chances are that you’re consuming traces of gluten in other foods that you eat.

Starbucks is one of the largest coffee chains in the world, with thousands of locations all over the world. They are also known for their syrups, which are used to sweeten other beverages besides coffee. One of the main ingredients in their syrups is called maltodextrin. Maltodextrin is a non-digestible carbohydrate, and it is used because it has a low glycemic index. This means that it is slow to release its sugar into the bloodstream, and it does not cause a rapid rise in blood glucose levels.

I am a Starbucks junkie.   I know it sounds strange, but that’s really the only way to describe it.   I will go through a drive-thru in just about any city of the world, just so I can get one of their fantastic (and amazing, actually) cold drinks.   My favorites are the Caramel Cold Brew, Cold Brew Mochas, and Frappucinos.   The only things that I do not like from Starbucks are the pastries that they sell in the Seattle store.   I don’t understand it.   I don’t have a diabetic problem, and they are delicious, but I refuse to eat them.   The only reason I have not switched all of my loyalty to a different.
