The canned food debate is a hot topic in the food world. On one side are the proponents of the “raw is best” camp, who say that canned foods need to be cooked to be safe to eat. On the other side are those who believe that the heating process is a necessary step to the canning process.

In a world of many grocery stores, it’s easy to forget that most food is not fresh. Canned foods, for example, may last for years, and are a great way to enjoy the same food from a can as you would from fresh. But, can canned foods be cooked?
